About Viper

How it all started…

Three friends, Kevin, Moktar and Lisa met each other at a rooftop party in Rotterdam and decided they wanted to go on an adventure together. They decided that they wanted to start a company, and then they thought about what they wanted to do. 

In 2008 they signed up for a startup bootcamp and won over a number of venture capital investors to invest in their business idea. It was the start of a rocky ride that continues to today. 

Viper BV (‘the Company’) is a high tech, high pace and highly service oriented company. Viper is an online shopping platform. They started out with consumer electronics, but soon they expanded their business  and now they deliver a diverse range of products.

At present, Kevin has taken on the role as CTO (Chief Technology Officer), Lisa is CFO (Chief Financial Officer) and Moktar is CEO (Chief Executive Officer) they all have an equal share in the company.

Profiles of key management positions

Chief executive officer - Mr. Anand
Mr Anand is the co-founder and CEO of the Company and holds a master’s degree in behavioural economics from University of Rotterdam. Mr Anand has a great management team to oversee the operational activities, which enables him to focus on the bigger picture. Although business is going well, Mr Anand is always looking for new opportunities to expand and grow the business. Given the nature of the business, the associated investments are huge and always require additional external funding. According to Mr Anand, the banks are a bit hesitant in lending money as these investments are considered to be relatively risky. This is mainly due to the fact that it is hard to estimate the potential growth in an ever changing market. Therefore, Mr Anand is currently considering whether to issue a listed debt obligation in the market.

Chief technology officer - Mr. Balkon
Mr Balkon is co-founder and responsible for managing the IT environment and spearheading any IT development projects  of the Company. He has learned by doing. Initially he studied global business and sustainability. Mr Balkon followed night school to learn new IT skills, learned from trial and error and places great reliance on his IT departments skills. IT is vital to the survival of the Company, in particular with the new features to the web shop in development. Due to his responsibility for the IT system, his user account in the financial accounting system has been granted  so-called ‘superuser rights’. As Mr Balkon’s sole responsibility should be to maintain the IT environment, he is not allowed to post any journal entries.

Chief financial officer - Ms. Williams
Ms. Williams is Co-founder and responsible for managing the financial column. She has a masters degree in Accounting & Finance. She founded the company straight out of university with Kevin & Moktar and directly put her degree to practice. She was mentored by Sean Spencer as part of the start-up bootcamp to get the hang of it. Ms Williams is a hands on kind of CFO, she has regular meetings with everyone in the financial column and spends much time on mentoring others in the company. She receives monthly reporting pack from the  manager finance. She wants to understand all figures and is highly motivated to get to the bottom of discrepancies.

Short-Medium term goals:

Viper aims to streamline its delivery process. This is expected to be achieved through the deployment of drones. Viper plans to partner with external vendors who will be able to sell through the Viper platform. Along with partnering with external vendors, Viper plans to develop a platform to manage customer satisfaction for sales from external vendors. Core to the Viper brand is to be sustainable and environmentally conscious. Viper therefore intends  on using circular energy. Viper will replace all its  petrol/diesel vehicles with electric vehicles 

Long term goals:

Vipers intends on expanding into other countries.

Sustainability

Climate change is a key policy priority in order to make sure that future generations are able to enjoy their natural environment. To realise this goal, Viper has implemented a addendum to the general procurement policy. As a result, Viper will, in its purchasing decisions, will give preference to:
  1. Any (electronic) product with at least energy label B. Where possible, energy label A and up is preferred.
  2. Any product with the following certification:
    • Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI);
    • UTZ;
    • Rainforest Alliance;
    • Fairtrade;
    • TÜV; or
    • ISO 14001 AND OHSAS 18001 certified suppliers.
  3. Any product, service or supplier which can support the following objectives:
    • A reduction in Viper’s carbon emissions by 50% by 2030, relative to 2017 levels.
    • An increase in Viper’s energy efficiency p/m2 of 30% by 2030, relative to 2017 levels.
    • The reduction of Viper’s waste of 50% by 2030, relative to 2017 levels.
    • An increase in Viper’s recycling figures of 75% by 2030 of their waste arisings relative to 2017 levels.
    • A reduction in water consumption by 25% on Viper’s offices and warehouses by 2030, relative to 2017 levels.

How can I cancel my order?
You can cancel your order via your account. You can only cancel if your order hasn't left the warehouse yet. Was your order already shipped? You can refuse it at the door or return it free of charge after receiving it. Register your return via the online return request form.

How can I change my order? You can change the name and address on your order by contacting our Customer Service. Forgot to add a product or ordered the wrong one? You can also cancel and place another order, including the right product. Cancel it via your order overview in your account.

How can I place an order? Add products to your digital shopping cart via the big green button. If you place the order with your account, you can order even faster. Don't have an account? You can also order without an account. In that case, we'll need some information.


What if I want to submit a complaint?
Sorry, a thousand times over. We're really obsessed with customer satisfaction. We sometimes completely miss the mark too, though. And now you're at a disadvantage. We can't let that happen.

We're happy to resolve your complaint. This is easiest if you contact our Customer Service. We're available daily via phone and email. Not satisfied with your answer? Does Viper have a secure payment environment?
Viper uses a secure internet environment as soon as you start your checkout. That way, others can't watch what you're doing. Your transaction information will be encrypted via an SSL connection. You don't need special software to be able to pay with SSL. You can recognize a secure SSL connection by the green lock in your browser.

How can I pay?
In our webshop, you can pay with iDEAL, credit card, or via bank transfer. All payment methods are free of charge and we don't charge payment costs. We don't offer other payment methods such as afterpay, repayment plans, payments at the door, VVV vouchers, or giro transfer. Looking for your invoice? You can find it via your account under 'My Orders'.

Why was my credit card payment declined?
Did your credit card payment get declined? Payments connected to a credit card are checked for fraud. Was your payment declined unjustly? Unfortunately, we can't tell you why. Of course we don't suspect you're committing fraud, but we have to keep our payment check methods a secret. Your order is declined automatically and you won't be charged. Do you still want to receive your order? Order again and select choose iDEAL or pre-payment.

Why was my payment checked?
Payments made with a credit card are checked because they're susceptible to fraud. We think it's important to protect our customers from fraudulent payments. Payments will be automatically approved or declined based on a large number of criteria. Unfortunately, we can't tell you why your payment was declined. Of course we don't suspect you're committing fraud, but we have to keep our payment check methods a secret.

When do I receive my refund after returning my product?
As soon as we've processed your return, we'll refund you. The time it takes for a refund to appear on your bank account depends on the payment method. We'll always pay within 3 days after processing your return shipment. Did the money still not appear on your account after 5 working days? Please contact our Customer Service.

How can I receive my refund?
We'll refund you with the payment method you used. Did you pay with iDEAL? We'll refund you that way. You'll receive a confirmation email once the money has been transferred.


I'm not satisfied about the delivery driver. Where can I file a complaint?
We're sorry. We'd like to ask you to contact our customer service so we can speak to you about this.

What if my product was delivered damaged?
Is your product damaged? We pack up our product as well as possible, but your product may get damaged during delivery. We're happy to solve this for you. Fill out the return form within 30 days. It offers you the possibility to have your damaged product replaced by a new one. You can also return your product in one of our stores. Clearly state that your product was delivered in damaged condition and tell us your preferred solution, so we can do the best we can to help you. Of course, the normal return process applies here. This means that we pick up big or heavy packages, and returns are always free.

What if my order is delayed?
Keep an eye on your Track & Trace to see the most up-to-date information about your delivery. Ordered today, delivered tomorrow. That's our promise and you can trust in that. Do things ever go wrong? Well, almost never. In the exceptional case things do go wrong, we'll do everything we can to deliver your package as soon as possible.
